Comparing 9 custom wedding cake toppers, eight bought for $2,219
We bought custom toppers from 8 vendors with our own money, over three days in April 2026. They were for a wedding on 16 May 2026. We made the 9th topper ourselves. 9 in all, all filmed. 7 of the 9 missed their quoted ship date. One topper came 13 weeks after the wedding.

Every vendor quoted a ship window before taking our money, and this chart shows who kept it. The pinned first row is our own product.

Emails sentPromise kept?Only our own unit and Titoho came on time. Titoho was the only bought topper to land in its window, and only by skipping the proof step it advertised; it still owes us a refund. SnapFigures' first unit came broken on day 30 and the replacement on day 47, but they answered within a day. Statu3D spent about three months in customs.

The two clay studios top likeness yet, once you hold them, sit low on the finish column; their bulk is a separate problem covered in the size piece. A high likeness score is not the same as being known on sight: the people depicted disagreed with our raters on every topper.

We bought 8 from other firms to experience the pain and solve it. What arrived was not good enough, so the unit below is ours, scored by the same raters under the same conditions.

- Nothing on the record; we never captured a verdict for this one.

- Nothing to report, and that is no compliment: it was our own queue, so there is no support to grade against the eight above.
- Delivery
- Ordered Apr 11, in hand Apr 26: 15 days against the 14–30 day window our storefront quotes a stranger. A promise we made to ourselves, so read the timeline row accordingly.
- What we paid
- $110 per unit
- Best thing
- Cut suit planes and a pleated skirt under a clear coat that reads as glazed porcelain from across a cake, at a third of the median price on this page.
- Worst thing
- The glaze pools on the faces and the colour bleeds at the edges up close, and the deliberately low-poly faces cap how true the likeness can ever get.
- Our verdict
- It arrived in 15 days with zero back-and-forth, costs $110, and weighs 52 g, light enough to rest on buttercream instead of sinking into it. The likeness score is so-so and we left it that way: the origami style trades photo-true looks for facets, and our own rubric does not reward that.

- A genuinely charming chibi pair with crisp details: the bride's laughing face with round glasses and the polka-dot bow tie land perfectly.
- Worst thing
- The bride's cream dress is so close to her skin tone that at cake distance she looks undressed, and the lilac floral print vanished entirely.

- Five proof rounds, the most of anyone, and they asked for an extra photo unprompted.

- The goldendoodle is the star: its curly white coat, floppy ears and black nose make the dog instantly recognisable from the close-up photo.
- Worst thing
- The bride is not her, least of all in profile, and the gown became a plain strapless dress, losing the off-shoulder lace bodice and sheer sleeves that define the actual wedding look.

- The outfits carry over well: blue vest, bow tie, brown shoes and the slit long-sleeve dress are all there, with genuinely joyful matching smiles.
- Worst thing
- It looks like neither of them at all, and lands somewhere uncanny rather than merely generic. The bride's hair alone is the wrong colour and style, dark brown half-down instead of her blonde updo.
